Satori NHP Neuropixels Datalogger
Overview
The Satori NHP Neuropixels Datalogger is a compact, lightweight, multi-probe headstage system purpose-built for freely-moving and tethered electrophysiology in large-brain models (including non-human primates). Specifically tailored to interface with the Neuropixels 1.0 NHP probes, this logger enables researchers to capture hundreds to thousands of neural channels with high fidelity, whether in tethered streaming mode or fully wireless datalogging mode.
The Neuropixels 1.0 NHP probes represent a major step forward for large-brain recordings by extending the shank length (e.g., up to 45 mm) and maintaining high-density electrode placement while still digitizing on-chip.The Satori NHP logger complements this by providing the freedom of wireless, untethered recording combined with high-channel-count capability — opening up new behavioral paradigms in larger species and deep brain structures previously hard to access with high-density digital probes. With multi-probe support, you can sample multiple brain areas simultaneously in freely-moving subjects or tethered conditions, giving unprecedented scale and flexibility.
Key Features
-
Full compatibility with Neuropixels 1.0 NHP probes — The NHP series from Imec are optimized for larger brain volumes and deep structure access (e.g., shank lengths up to 45 mm) and retain the same 384-channel dual-band read-out architecture.
-
Multi-probe support — The Satori NHP logger supports up to three probes simultaneously, allowing wide spatial coverage or parallel region recordings. Select up to 1152 channels for tethered streaming or up to 400 across up to 3 probes for untethered datalogging.
- Two‑way radio link: enables remote monitoring of headstage status (battery, recording state), sending commands (start, stop, pause), and visual feedback (e.g. LED ping).
-
Standby / pause mode — A low-power state when recording is paused, minimizing battery drain and enabling multiple discrete recording epochs per session without returning to base.
-
Integrated motion sensors — An onboard 3-axis accelerometer plus gyroscope enable simultaneous motion/orientation tracking alongside neural data, ideal for correlating behavior and neural dynamics.
