Griffin Modular Datalogger
Overview
Meet Griffin, SpikeGadgets’ modular high-channel-count electrophysiology system designed for chronic neural recordings in larger freely moving animals, including non-human primates and marmosets. Griffin supports both tethered streaming and untethered wireless datalogging, enabling high-quality neural recordings without restricting natural behavior.
Compatible with Cambridge NeuroTech CMOS diagnostic bioprobes, supporting flexible 64- to 512-channel recording configurations using 64-channel or 128-channel probes
Key Features
- Wireless datalogging mode: records neural data directly to onboard microSD storage for untethered freely moving experiments.
- Tethered streaming mode: livestreams neural data through the SpikeGadgets MCU and Trodes software for real-time acquisition and visualization.
- Two-way radio link: enables remote monitoring of headstage status (battery, recording state), wireless command control (start, stop, pause), and synchronization with behavioral or experimental events.
- Standby (pause) mode: low-power state when recording is paused, allowing multiple recording epochs per session while preserving battery life.
- Integrated motion sensors: onboard accelerometer + gyroscope for synchronized movement and orientation tracking.
- Lightweight and robust design: optimized for chronic neural recording experiments in non-human primates and other larger animal models.
